Well, in the words of Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave, "I simply don't believe it!!"

Here we are just starting the school summer holidays, enjoying these wonderful hot days, and lo and behold in today's Guernsey Press is an advert reminding people to submit their Christmas lunch menus for publication.

Come on, give us a break! What's wrong with simply enjoying now. Why have we got to be reminded that there are only five shopping months to Christmas, (I know it should be --- shopping days, but to be honest I couldn't be bothered to work it out), I refuse to be made to think about it.

The trouble is, the fact that I am even writing about it means that I am thinking about it, see, the powers that be have got me beat.

Isn't it the same with other things though?
Ask a 20 something how much are they putting aside for their pension, and you get a look of disbelief, as if to say why on earth would I want to be thinking of something like that at my age for goodness sake?

As I can count the years using only my hands, God willing, beforeI will be claiming mine, I guess it is further up my agenda of things to be considered than it was thirty years ago.

It does however serve as a reminder that the years do pass all too quickly, it also reminds me that there are probably more years behind me than in front, and begs the question what after this life?
Just as Christmas seems too far away for me to get excited about it, we too can think that the next life is too far away to give it any thought at the moment.

Something just to bear in mind though, we know Christmas will be on December 25th. We don't however know even what lies around the next corner.

My mother often quotes a little line that goes " Life at best is very brief, like the falling of a leaf".

Perhaps it is a good thing to be reminded that the Christmas menus will soon be published!

I saw your comment on Eric's blog, so thought I would pop in and say hi. It's odd but I had you and your family on my mind only two days ago!! I don't know if you remember me...I used to go to Shiloh (when I lived in Guernsey), and you and your wife Judy were a real inspiration to me.

I recall you went through some stuff, but your honesty and realness were hugely encouraging and challenging - I have never forgotten you and the impact you had on my life!

I think you were a Messenger then, and we used to have brief conversations near the Bus Terminus.

I can't believe your daughters are of an age to marry - now I am in my late 30's it still seems odd that anyone younger than me is old enough to drive and anyone who sings on Top of the Pops looks about 5 (my Mum said this day would come)

Oh and Christmas - here in NZ where it is cold and chilly, the local Kiwis are having their MidWinter Feast - yes, the big old Christmas dinner - for us though Christmas time is summer holidays, relaxing and BBQ's, shorts and T-shirts.

Me again! I have also wanted to make contact with your brother - and can I remember his name? Anyway in 1990 he had this prophetic word that he spoke out in Church and I have never forgotten it and believe it to be spot on even right now. It was about two people standing on a rock at Cobo Bay needing help - one person represented witchcraft that was over the Island, the other freemasonry.

Greetings to you all at Shiloh. Being a shy soul I guess I never stood out, but I remember you preaching on Daniel in the 1990's, in the Lion's Den. Your lovely Dad Fred, your other brother Andy and his lovely wife Debbie - I recall they had a son Michael and a daughter Emma (I have a daughter with that name too!), the Le Goupillot's, to see their children going on with God is just - well the blessing of God on the next generation.

Ann Jordan knows me in case you think - who is this crazy woman commenting on my blog? We went to Albania together in 1996.

I have just searched through my word documents and found the word your brother had - it was Brian.

Here it is:
End of Oct 90 (from Words at Shiloh)

Brian Ferbrache had a pic of a group of people at Cobo Beach, 2 people were on a rock crying for help. People were watching but no one was helping.

Someone stood up to interpret this word, saying that the two people are the two strongholds Witchcraft and Freemasonry

Thanks for popping on to my blog. I lived near Saumarez Park, hope that doesn't take you back to the drawing board! Ann and I keep in contact via email, we went to Albania in June 1996 and I used to help out with the Albania group meetings etc. She came and visited me when I was with YWAM Scotland in 1998. I hope that puts things together.

Oh and I remember - it wasn't Daniel you preached on - it was Samson and Delilah! It all came back to me!!

Oh - I have just emailed Pastor Eric my email address. I'm hoping I had the right email address for him.

Would love to be in contact.

If the email doesn't get through to Pastor Eric, I will put my email address on my blog profile.
